It's not looking too good. The Titans very well could go 10-6 and miss the playoffs. The Steelers and Browns have remaining games against teams who are playing for pride. And that's a shame because the Titans have hung in there despite having going through a lot of adversity this year(and before the season started).
Oh, well. If they go 10-6, that's still a great season. But I bet every AFC team that makes the playoffs this season would be relieved that they won't have to face Vince and the Titans again this season! ;D

Not looking so hot right now for the Titans to make the playoffs....but think back to last year. Odds were even greater and by the time our week 17 game rolled around, all the pieces had fallen into place and we had our own destiny in our hands.
Titans MUST win out with one of the following: Jags lose out. We win a tiebreaker with them through division record (first tiebreaker since they are in our division) Cleveland loses to Cincinatti. They can also obviously lose both of their last two and the Titans get in, but they must lose to at least Cincy, we would win a tiebreaker with them through strenght of victory. Division tiebreakers wouldn't be applicable in this situation, conference records would be identical (2nd tiebreaker), record in common games would be identical (3rd tiebreaker), and a win by us over the Colts would push us ahead of them in the strength of victory department (4th tiebreaker). Pittsburgh loses to Baltimore. Honestly don't remember the tiebreaker that would put us over here, lol. I just remember someone spelling it out but can't remember where.
Obviously, there's more chinks in these scenarios like depending on who wins the AFC North, if the Titans happen to lose another game, etc. But right now, these are the likely scenarios to get us in. As it stands, we have statistically a 5% chance of making the playoffs. If we win out, that chance increases to 43%.

Always a shame when you can't control your own destiny. I hate having to wait for certain scenarios to fall into place. "Backing-in" to the playoffs is better than nothing, I suppose.

Since Cleveland lost to the Bengals and the Titans got by the Jets, the Titans now control their own destiny!

Moral: WHO YOUR BACKUP QUARTERBACK IS IS IMPORTANT. We're just lucky Collins had a decent day for a change. He's pretty much SUCKED as a back up.

With Bo Scaife and Roydell Williams out, it's going to be a really tough task.
We were low on receivers before, now we'll have to rely on Ben Troupe (scary) Casey Cramer (good blocker) and Jamie Petrowski at TE and Justin Gage, Eric Moulds, and Biren Ealy at WR - I like Ealy, but wow, that's a lot of pressure to put on the kid

The Titans are way too battered going into this game. All we can do is hope for the best.

We're just lucky Collins had a decent day for a change. He's pretty much SUCKED as a back up. lol, he only saw significant playing action in 3 games! You gotta keep in mind that he's never been one to light up the scoreboard, either. TB - came in cold during the 3rd quarter against one of the top D's in the league; Houston - pretty much won the game because of him, his only start of the year Indy - came in cold & got the job done; all he had to do was NOT lose the game

A good season when it's all said and done. They got it done in ugly fashion most of the year, but with the way our defense played, you gotta think we're back into year-in-year-out playoff contention regardless of our offense. As we've stated on another board, once Vince gets rid of this boogeyman in his head that's making him stay in the pocket (injured quad hasn't helped at all), our offense will be hitting on all cylinders again.

Hopefully next year Peyton will be on that stupid Madden game.
