I haven't found a link for it, but I watched this news, twice, on ESPN this morning.
Gunnar Esiason was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two. This extremely dangerous diasease causes major respiratory problems, often deadly. For years, Gunnar had to frequently have has chest and back massaged to loosen up the phlegm in his lungs. Nowadays, he must spend two hours a day with a device that does essentially the same thing.
But last week, at age 16, Gunnar threw his first TD in high school football. He came off the bench, the game already too far gone. But he refused to let them be shut out, and worked his way down field and threw the shutout-breaking TD.
Not bad for a kid some thought wouldn't even live this long. Very uplifting story.
