From the "Who Gives A Crap?" Department. www.arenafan.com/news/?page=pressrel&article=9505Why can't these guys realize, THE AFL IS DONE!! You can't resurrect a game that you've ruined, and expect it to be a success. IT WILL NOT WORK. The CBA is only a minute part of the problems haunting the AFL. They seriously need to let the AFL rest in peace. It was fun while it lasted, but it's really time to move on.

From the article: "Players are making economic concessions now in return for a share of expected increases in the League’s value and revenue, because the players believe in the future of the AFL."
This is one of the league's biggest problems. They are concerned with the value of the league, as a profit making entity, rather than helping the teams show a profit. The NFL, and I think the other major leagues, are non profit entities, dedicated to serving the teams and distributing league wide income. On the other hand, the AFL has always worried about the "ownership" of the league itself. They gave an option for a big piece of league to the NFL, which never exercised it. The last TV contract, as I recall, gave ESPN "equity" in the league. And, when the league was about to fold, the knight in shining armor was some hedge fund who intended to invest in the league, but backed off. The competion between the league and the teams sure helped kill it off.
